My story

Katerina Olkhovaya is a cinematographer based in New York City whose journey began with documentary filmmaking. Her passion for storytelling comes from years of learning to observe the world closely. Traveling and filming in different parts of the world trained her eye to notice how light shifts with place—how every sunrise and sunset reveals distinct bursts of color, textures, and atmospheres.
What drew her to cinematography is the belief that we experience and understand the world non-verbally. As a director of photography, her goal is to help audiences not just watch a story, but see and feel it through visual imagery.
Katerina studied cinematography with a focus on lighting and composition, and her body of work spans narrative films, music videos, and documentaries, including a recent project filmed in Uganda.
She is committed to crafting images that serve both story and emotion, always striving to create visuals that resonate beyond the screen.
